My thoughts on recent events and Happy Holidays!

The two on left are my nephew and niece! The number one and the last number two are my lil' girls Layla and Ava!

I was shocked like everyone else when I read the news on Friday about the tragedy that happened in Connecticut. It was horrific to watch the news coverage and get a look at the victims, all they did was wake up and go to school in the morning! School! I mean, I really couldn't wrap my head around it. As a mother, as a parent I was so hurt and felt so much pain in my heart for those parents that will not be able to hold their children any more! That night when I got home, yeah I hugged my daughters just a little bit harder! Told them I loved them a few more times than I usually do... and I took time out to just be with them instead of beginning my nightly routine! People are going to debate the shit out of this event for the weeks and months to come, but really what happened was a senseless tragedy. I choose not to explain this to my daughters. I don't see the point maybe that is naive of me. But they don't watch the news and they are 4 and 2 so I would like them to keep their innocence just a little bit longer. Layla is still trying to figure out how I got Santa on speed dial all the way from the North Pole, I just don't see the point in telling them about all the ugliness the world has. Did any of you talk to your kids about it? How did you approach this topic?

I remember when Layla started pre-school, I was a wreck. All I could think about is will she be safe! I know this is something that many parents struggle with, I mean you have to send them to school. Believe me, many times, the thought has crossed my mind to home school my girls but that's just something that is not possible for me. I have been blessed that for the most part my care givers have been family and people that I trust. My babysitter now is a long time friend, and I have to say I trust her with my girls whole heartily. She is great with my girls and they love her! She goes above and beyond sometimes and I love that! I go to work happy with the knowledge that my daughters will be well looked after! That piece of mind is important. Especially on days like Friday when all I needed to do was pick up the phone and call my friend if I wanted to, to hear my little Ava's voice! It gives me peace of mind! I can never thank her enough for that!

Next week is Christmas, my thoughts and prayers are with those families. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you! I hope everyone has a great holiday. I hope Santa brings you everything you asked for and deserve! I already have some of the greatest blessing anyone can ask for! Ever since my daughters were born, I have learned to experience Christmas through their eyes, and marvel at the spirit of the holidays. Its a great time of year and I hope everyone is filled with happiness and love!

So from my family to yours I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday!
