BOCA CHICA BITCHES!

Can a modern mom talk like that.. HELL YEAH!

I just got back from from our vacation to the Dominican Republic. Let me just say I had the greatest time! As parents and especially as mothers we often  forget to take time out for ourselves, we devote so much time to our children that sometimes we forget that parents need a "TIME OUT" too! That's exactly what my husband and I needed a time out. This year I decided to stop talking about taking a vacation and just go on and take it. We got together with a group of friends and we booked our trip!

The day before our trip I had to pack up my daughters and take them to their grandmothers house and let me tell you since having children I have not been apart from them for more than a day so leaving them at my mothers for five days was a concept I was not ready for! Thank god they were both asleep because I did tear up and get emotional as I dropped them off. I felt some what guilty. Like I was abandoning my children. I know I am always dramatic. But the feeling was still there and the thoughts started racing in my head: will they miss me, will they cry for me, will they be upset because we not here! My husband of course said I was over reacting and hey maybe I was but the fact remains that I am a mother of two young children and I  cherish every moment with them so being apart from them was going to take some getting use to!

When we got to DR I call my mom to check in and she drops a bombshell on me the girls have been up all night sick and throwing up, with a stomach virus! Of all the times to get sick  they wait till I am thousands of miles away! I am full of worry and feeling maybe this was a mistake when my husband reminds me that they are with my mother who raised 4 kids and that they will be fine by that time our van reached our hotel and as we got out and I felt the sun to my face I looked at my friend Thiara and yelled "WE IN BOCA CHICA BITCHES!"

I was finally able to relax and when our other friends arrive the group was complete and the fun began!
DR CREW!

My husband and I needed this time alone to ourselves. Every relationship reaches a point where at times you take advantage of the fact that you are with that person day in and day out. We forget that relationships like every living thing need to be looked after, they need to be nurtured, they need room to grow. This trip let us rediscover ourselves, gave us time to just be together. I forgot what it felt like to sleep in a bed without a three year old kicking you in the face! Its the little things that you miss the most! I remember my friend Paris looking at me as she layed out on the sofa that was in our room and saying "Zulay you hear that... no one is calling for us!, no one is yelling out mommy! We can do whatever we want!" And what we did you may ask we slept! LOL You parents out there know that sleep is a very valued commodity!
LOL let me find out we matched!

I had a great time on our trip, it was much needed and much deserved by the end we all missed our children and couldn't wait to get home as we pulled up to our house and walked up the steps I heard Layla yell out "they here" and with that she ran out and gave her dad the biggest hug! She proclaimed that we should never leave her again! Well baby girl I can't promise you that! But I hugged all the same! My kids missed me and I missed them!  A much need vacation but home is where the heart is!
